Robert B. Newborn

Robert B. Newborn, 77, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:45 A.M., Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
Robert was a retired top boss for the coal mines.  He last worked at Waltonville #6 mine.  He was a US Navy veteran of W.W. II.  He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Du Quoin, a Life Member of Du Quoin VFW Post 513, a Life Member of AM Vets Post 148 - Waltonville, a member of Du Quoin American Legion, and a member of UMW of A.
He was born May 14, 1925 at Tamaroa, IL, the son of Benjamin Robert and Elsie May (Boismenue) Newborn.
He married Alberta Gajewski Thomas on October 20, 1981 at Mt. Vernon, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, 4 sons - Robert Newborn and wife Janet of Du Quoin, Jim Lamke and wife Karen of Scheller, Bill Lamke and wife Georgia of New Oxford, PA, Benjamin Newborn and wife Brandi of Scheller, four daughters - Pam Moore and husband William of Edwardsville, IL, Margaret Ozburn and husband Jerry of Duluth, GA,  Janice Strong of Du Quoin, and Connie Ridgeway and husband Keith of Scheller, two brothers - Billy Newborn and wife Dorothy of Tamaroa and James (Red) Newborn and wife Kim of Streamwood, IL, eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 3, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Rev. C.L. McKinnies and Rev. Dan McKinnies officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Interment was in the St. Barbara Cemetery in Scheller, IL.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Du Quoin VFW Post 513.
Friends may make memorials to the First United Pentecostal Church of Du Quoin.
